Table Tennis Training - Developing Quality Serves
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lauren_Traveau]Lauren Traveau
When it comes to serving in table tennis, you should start with the basics and build off of them. Remember that the serve is the only time during a game where you have total control over the ball. By getting a quality serve in play, you can greatly increase your opportunity for securing the point so try to practice your serve as often as you can.
Basic Table Tennis Serves:
For beginners, position yourself at either side of the table. You want to hold your racket with an open face, with the racket itself slightly angled either in a backhand or forehand position. Drop the ball onto your racket sending the ball to bounce once on your side and then over the net towards your opponent. Experiment with different distances so you can get a good grasp on the amounts of force necessary to get your ball over the net. Also experiment with different heights of tossing the ball into the air. Once you've practiced and mastered this key step, it's time to move on.
When serving in table tennis, you always want to keep in mind the distance and landing position of the ball. If the ball hits your opponent's side in the middle of the table, chances are your opponent is going to be in a prime position for returning the ball with a forehand or backhand smash. This is something you want to try to avoid.
You should practice trying to land your serves either toward the corners and the deep ends of the table, or just over the net like a drop shot. The deeper serve will make it harder for your opponent to return the ball with a quality attack while the shorter serve will also require your opponent to adjust, because a well placed short serve is more likely to bounce twice before reaching your opponent.
Advanced Table Tennis Serves:
When you feel like you've mastered the basics and can successfully serve the ball to all parts of the table, it's probably time to increase the difficulty level.
A Short Backspin Serve is an excellent serve to have in your table tennis game regimen. When starting out you want to keep in mind the position of your body and placement of your feet. You'll want to begin close to the table with a low, relaxed stance.
When you're ready, toss the ball into the air about six inches. Transfer your weight from the back foot to the front foot and rotate your upper body to help you make contact with the ball.
Let the ball hit your racket at an open angle and with a forward follow-through motion as if you're trying to brush just underneath the ball. The key to this serve is adding backspin, and to generate backspin, you'll want to snap your wrist just as your racket meets the ball. Also keep in mind the follow-through, as it should be short with an upward motion of the wrist.
If done correctly, the ball should land on your opponent's side twice before they get a chance to return. This serve takes time to learn, so be diligent with your practice regimen.
The Backhand Sidespin Serve is another advanced technique that you should practice. This serve begins much like the Short Backspin Serve; you should stand close to the table and take a low and relaxed stance. Again throw the ball vertically into the air at least six inches high. When the ball is falling, with your racket in a backhand position, strike the ball with a sideways slightly forward motion and remember to snap your wrist. The snapping motion again helps to generate the required sidespin necessary to the success of this serve.
Regular rel=nofollow [http://tabletennis.com/table-tennis-training/table-tennis-backhand-training/]table tennis training is essential to improving your game. Take time to practice your serves on a regular basis, and once you've mastered the advanced serves, don't be afraid to try and put your own variations on them or even try developing your own unique serves.

Richmond Hill TTC55+ Umpire Workshop
My name is Johnson. I am one of the TT lovers who have started to play table tennis in McC centre 2 and half years ago. I went through the 2011 & 2012 Golden Fun games at McC & the 2012 Nov. 27th Oak Ridges TT tournament. They are great & fun events. I believe a lot of the TT players enjoyed the games & good times.

Patti Page - Tennessee Waltz
Clara Ann Fowler (November 8, 1927 – January 1, 2013), known by her professional name Patti Page, was an American singer and one of the best-known female artists in traditional pop music. She was the best-selling female artist of the 1950s,[1] and sold over 100 million records.[2] She was often introduced as "the Singin' Rage, Miss Patti Page". A New York disc jockey on WNEW, William B. Williams, introduced her as "A Page in my life called Patti".
Page signed with Mercury Records in 1947, and became their first successful female artist, starting with 1948's "Confess". In 1950, she had her first million-selling single "With My Eyes Wide Open, I'm Dreaming", and would eventually have 14 additional million-selling singles between 1950 and 1965.
Page's signature song, "Tennessee Waltz", recorded in 1950, was one of the biggest-selling singles of the 20th century, and is also one of the nine official state songs of Tennessee. "Tennessee Waltz" spent 13 weeks atop the Billboard magazine's Best-Sellers Listin 1950. Page had three additional No. 1 hit singles between 1950 and 1953, with "All My Love (Bolero)", "I Went to Your Wedding", and "(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window".
Unlike most pop music singers, Page blended the styles of country music into many of her most popular songs. By doing this, many of Page's singles also made the Billboard Country Chart. Towards the 1970s, Page shifted her career towards country music, and she began charting on the country charts, up until 1982. Page was one of the few vocalists to have made the country charts in five separate decades.
When rock and roll music became popular during the second half of the 1950s, traditional pop music was becoming less popular. Page was one of the few traditional pop music singers who was able to sustain her success, continuing to have major hits into the mid-1960s with "Old Cape Cod", "Allegheny Moon", "A Poor Man's Roses (Or a Rich Man's Gold)", and "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte".
In 1997, Patti Page was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. She will be posthumously honored with the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2013.

Changing Partners、I Went to Your Wedding、以及Hush,Hush, Sweet Charlotte等。1960年代,披頭崛起,她的歌曲風格從此不再成為主流。
Patti Page 1999年以專輯「Live at Carnegie Hall:The 50th Anniversary Concert」贏得在她進入歌壇50年後第一座葛萊美獎。並將在2月獲頒葛萊美終身成就獎,她原本期盼能親自出席領獎。

RHTTC 55 中文簡介
By Richard Chi
Hi Richard,
Wow ! Another great piece of work !
We need a Chinese version, definitely !
I am copying same to other committee members for
sharing the joy of seeing the work done, and most important of all, the value
in life we treasure very much.
Let's have both the English and Chinese version
posted.
We play for the games we love and we fight for
the values we treasure.
Carlo
Hi, Richard!
Congratulations for a job well done! Even though 'About Us' was
written in 2 languages by 2 different authors, there's enough correlation
between them that the core value is not lost in the shuffle. I am very
pleased that we are singing the same tune!
Regards,
Desmond

ABOUT US - THE RICHMOND HILL TABLE TENNIS CLUB FOR THE OLDER ADULTS 55+
The RHTTC 55 had its humble beginning. It started with a few pioneers ventured to MCC with a few table tennis balls and some rudimentary racquets looking for some fun and recreation, knowing that the programs at this Centre were catering for seniors 55 and over. Before long, there was so much fun in playing table tennis that strangers became friends and when the games were on, the room was always filled with laughter.
As the group started to take shape, we have developed a belief that apart from recreational benefits of this game, friendship and tolerance should play a significant role in our approach.
Thanks to our hardworking volunteers , tournaments, Christmas parties, monthly lunch gatherings and weekly chit-chats over a cup of coffee and breakfast have become our normal routines.
With the help and understanding of the authority of Town of Richmond Hill, our members can now enjoy the luxury of playing table tennis at 4 different centres and at time slots that fit their personal schedules with reasonable equipment and friendly environment.
Blessed with the above favourable elements and our well-established friendly tradition over the years, all newcomers feel at home and we take pride in witnessing the membership enrolling in our program has grown by leaps and bounds recently.
It is through playing table tennis that this group has come into being and personally, it is very gratifying for us to come to round up a bunch of very good Friends as an added bonus. LONG LIVE RHTTC55+

Beautiful Women of All Ages
This is amazing...and at the end make sure you click on to Queen Elizabeth, that is priceless
This series is a remarkable series of pictures that “morph” into a different subject very smoothly. Someone spent a lot of time to get this to happen, and even with a computer it must have been really difficult to do. When you click on the link, just let it run, and the pictures will sequence through to the end.
This is done very well. I think you might like it.
Thank you Riachard for sending this lovely video.
