55+ Golden Games - 2014
Hi All,
1. 只可填報一個中心參賽(各中心均有報名表供領取).
2. 註明參加男單打,女單打,雙打,一項或全部.
1. 賽事分別在以上四中心獨立進行.
2. 賽員分成 4 - 5 人一組,取單循環三局兩勝 (11 分)制.
3. 每組優勝者(抽簽)作淘汰賽以得出最後冠、亞軍.
4. 各中心的冠、亞軍將可到 Langstaff 參加總決賽.
5. 雙打配對由㑹方抽簽決定.
6. 裁判,計分由同組賽員輪流擔任.
備註:
This year's Golden Games will be held in four different Centres, namely: Langstaff Community Centre, McConaghy Senior Centre, Rouge Woods Community Centre and Oak Ridges Community Centre.
Dates:
June 9th (Monday) - 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Rouge Woods Community Centre
June 9th (Monday) - 1:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Oak Ridges Community Centre
June 10th (Tuesday) - 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at McConaghy Senior Centre
June 10th (Tuesday) - 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Langstaff Community Centre
June 12th (Thursday) - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Langstaff Community Centre
Registration:
1. You can only play at one of the four Centres. Registration forms are available at all Centres.
2. Please indicate which category you wish to participate, e.g., Men's Single, Women's Single and/or Men's/Women's Double.
3. Deadline for registration is Thursday, May 15th.
Format:
1. The Fun Games will be played at four different Centres as mentioned above.
2. The players will be grouped into 4 to 5 players as a group to play "round robin" (11-point, 2 games out of 3).
3. The winners from each group (from draw) will play "kick-off" in the "Finals" as Champion or First-Runner-Up.
4. The Champions and the First-Runners-Up at each Centre will be played at Finals at Langstaff Community Centre.
5. The match up for Doubles will be decided by draw.
6. Each player will take turns to be "umpire" or "score-keeper" at their games.
Remarks:
1. All players are expected to arrive on time. Players who arrive late will be disqualified.
2. Please arrange for your own transportation.
3. Any Centre(s) which do not have enough participants will be grouped with other Centres.
4. Award ceremony will be carried out after the Finals. Light refreshments will be served.

55+ Event Updates for the Month of April, May and June
Please note the following events to be held at different Centres during the months of April, May and June.
1. Community Discussion Older Adults 55+
Langstaff Community Centre April 22 (Tuesday) 1 pm, McConaghy Centre April 23 (Wednesday) 1 pm, Oakridges Community Centre April 24 (Thursday) 1 pm.
These sessions are for the Town of Richmond Hill to gauge your opinions and to decide future programs additions or cancellations. Participants need to register at McConaghy Centre or call 905-737-1818.
2. Older Adult 8th Annual Health Fair
Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts May 30 (Friday) 10 am - 2 pm.
Langstaff Community Centre April 22 (Tuesday) 1 pm, McConaghy Centre April 23 (Wednesday) 1 pm, Oakridges Community Centre April 24 (Thursday) 1 pm.

法庭上震撼亿万人的三个躬
法庭里座无虚席,开庭审判的是一桩绑架案。犯罪嫌疑人是一个30多岁的民工,绑架了一个六岁的男孩儿。让人欣慰的是,孩子安然无恙。虽然没有造成严重的后果,但他仍然要受到法律的制裁。
一民工绑架的是老板的儿子。之前,他在老板那里干了八个月,却没有拿到一分钱。他几次求老板先预支点儿钱,哪怕几百元也行。他是家里唯一的顶梁柱,他的母亲患有严重的心脏病,一天也离不开药。孩子上学也要用钱。还有他的妹妹,因为失恋患了精神病,他还要为妹妹治病,他不能看着妹妹天天披头散发满街乱跑。他每次找老板要钱,老板都一脸的不耐烦。往往他还没说上几句话,就被老板叫来的保安赶出了办公室。
终于,他忍无可忍,绑架了老板的儿子。后来,他后悔了,他完全可以跑掉,但他怕孩子一个人出什么意外,也怕孩子害怕,便一直把孩子抱在怀里。当警察出现的时候,孩子在他的怀里睡得正香。
他被判了五年。旁听席上的人都为他惋惜,到底是不懂法,否则,也就不会付出这样大的代价。他那个风雨飘摇的家该怎么办呢?
就在法官要宣布退庭时,从旁听席上传来
个苍老的声音:“等等,我有话要说。”大家扭头望去,是一个年过花甲的老妇人。有人认识她,她是男孩儿的奶奶,也就是老板的妈妈。孩子被绑架之后,老人一病不起,那是她最爱的孙子,也是孙辈中唯一的男孩儿。众人的心里都有些紧张,或许,老人还要提额外的条件,那个已经一无所有的民工还能承受得起吗?
老人慢慢地向被告席走过去。她站在民工面前,大家看到,她的嘴角在抖动。大厅里鸦雀无声,谁也不知道会发生什么事。
突然,老人弯下腰,向民工深深地鞠了三个躬。所有的人都愣住了,包括原告席上的老板,他想母亲大概老糊涂了。
老人抬起花白的头,泪水流了一脸。良久,她缓缓地说:“孩子,这第一躬,是我代我的儿子向你赔罪。是我教子无方,让他做出了对不起你的事。该受审判的不应该只是你,还有我的儿子,他才是罪魁祸首。这第二躬,是我向你的家人道歉。我的儿子不仅对不起你,也对不起你们一家人。作为母亲,我有愧呀。这第三躬,我感谢你没有伤害我的孙子,没给他的心灵留下丝毫的阴影,你有一颗善良的心。孩子,你比我的儿子要强上100倍。”
老人的一番话,令在场的人都为之动容,这是一个深明大义的母亲。而那个民工失声痛哭,是感动,也是悔恨。事情的结果是,老人的儿子不仅向民工支付了工钱,还把那个民工的母亲和妹妹接到城里来治病。故事以喜剧结束。
我想,是老人的宽容和大义救赎了儿子的灵魂。母亲的三个躬不仅是鞠给民工的,也是鞠给儿子的。她是用这样的方式规劝儿子,不能做昧良心的事。
不管我们选择了怎样的人生道路,走得正是第一要义。不愧对良心,不违背道义。最起码,不要做让母亲伤心的事,不要让母亲为我们低下她花白的头。

No Saturday Table Tennis at Rouge Woods
Hi Friends,
There will be no Saturday table tennis at Rouge Woods at this time till after mid June.
Thanks to Ben for keeping the regular players informed there, not covered by this mailing list.
Also thanks to David Au who will let our guys know by posting the notice on our blog.
As stated by the office, there was an error in the Community Recreation Guide.
We will have to stay close for the current and correct information around.
