我們球隊裡有位特別「搞笑」的朋友——阿彬。

他不一定打得最好,但絕對是最能逗笑大家的人。

他打球的時候,總會自言自語:

「這球應該能進……咦?怎麼飛到隔壁桌去了?」

或者被對手扣殺時,他會舉手喊:

「這球太漂亮,請再來一次!」

他的反應快,嘴巴更快。
有一次比賽,他被一記擦邊球打中拍邊,球飛了出去。
大家都以為他會懊惱,結果他笑著說:

「這拍子應該加薪,太盡責了!」

全場笑翻。

阿彬的球風自由隨性,失誤也多,但他總是笑著打完每一場。

He may not be the best player, but he’s definitely the one who makes everyone laugh the most.

While playing, he often talks to himself:

Or when his opponent smashes a perfect shot, he raises his hand and says:

“Beautiful! Please do that again!”

He reacts fast — but his mouth is even faster.
Once, a ball hit the edge of his paddle and flew off the table.
Instead of being upset, he laughed and said:

“This paddle deserves a raise — it’s doing its job too well!”

The whole room burst into laughter.

Ah Bin’s playing style is carefree and relaxed. He makes mistakes, but he always finishes every game with a smile.

最近,球館裡多了一位新朋友,姓陳。七十多歲,個子不高,說話溫和。第一次見面時,他拿著一支閃亮的新拍子,小心翼翼地擦著拍面。

In our ping pong group, there’s one friend who’s always early — Uncle Au.
If the games start at nine, he arrives at eight.
Not to grab a table, but to warm up and chat.

He always says, “You must exercise your mouth before your body!” 😂
And the moment he walks in, the whole gym lights up with laughter.

Uncle Au isn’t the best player, but he’s full of energy.
Every time he hits the ball, he shouts “Good shot!”
Even when he misses, he laughs and says, “No worries, next time will be better!”
His optimism spreads to everyone around him.

Once, he slipped a little during a match, and we all rushed over in concern.
He patted his knee and said with a grin, “Don’t worry — these old bones still work!”
Then he just kept playing as if nothing had happened.

During breaks, he often says,
“I don’t play to win — I play to enjoy the day.”
That line became our team’s motto.

Ping pong isn’t only exercise — it’s a reminder to face life with a smile.
And Uncle Au is the one who fills the room with joy.

我們球隊裡有位「高手」——
名字先不說,因為大家都叫他「教練」。

為什麼叫他教練?
因為他最厲害的不是打球,而是「指導別人」! 😂

誰發球沒過網,他會大聲說:

「你重心要放低!」

誰回球掛網,他立刻補一句:

「手腕要放鬆!」

他講得頭頭是道,姿勢比職業選手還專業,可輪到他自己上場時……球拍才抬起來,球已經飛走了。
大家都忍不住偷笑,他也不生氣,總是笑著說:

「教人容易,自己難哪!」

但說真的,教練的存在很溫暖。
他會在大家失誤時拍拍肩膀;
他會在你贏球時比大拇指;
他會在喝茶休息時講大笑話,笑到大家打嗝。

有一次我對他說:
「你是我們隊的精神領袖。」
他摸摸頭笑道:

「唉,我不是領袖,我只是陪大家一起快樂打球。」

回想起來,他就像乒乓球場上的陽光——
不一定最耀眼,卻照亮每一個人。

Ping Pong Friend (14)

In our ping pong group, there’s one “expert.”
I won’t name him, because everyone just calls him Coach.

Why “Coach”?
Because his greatest skill isn’t playing — it’s teaching others! 😂

When someone’s serve doesn’t clear the net, he’ll shout:

“Lower your center of gravity!”

When someone hits the ball into the net, he’ll quickly add:

“Relax your wrist!”

He explains every move like a professional instructor, demonstrating perfect posture —
but when it’s his turn to play, the ball is often gone before he even swings!
Everyone can’t help but laugh, and he just smiles, saying:

“It’s easy to coach, hard to play!”

Honestly, though, Coach brings warmth to our group.
When someone makes a mistake, he pats their shoulder.
When you win a point, he gives a thumbs-up.
During tea breaks, he tells jokes so funny that people laugh until they hiccup.

One day I told him,
“You’re the spirit of our team.”
He scratched his head and said with a grin,

“I’m not a leader — I just enjoy playing happily with everyone.”

Come to think of it, he’s like sunlight on the ping pong court —
not the brightest or fastest, but he brightens everyone around him.

At our age, winning or losing doesn’t matter as much anymore.
What matters is showing up, swinging the paddle, breaking a sweat, and encouraging one another.
That’s the true meaning of victory.

在我們的乒乓球小圈子裡,每個人都有自己的「特色」。有人出手快如閃電,有人防守穩如泰山,也有人一出手就讓人忍不住笑出來。

今天要說的是「老張」。
他打球講究「穩」,但常常穩到「不動如山」——有時球都落地了,他還在判斷要不要出手。大家都笑說他是「觀球專家」,因為他最擅長的就是站在原地觀察球路。

但別小看他,一旦他決定動手,那一拍往往出奇不意。上週的一場比賽裡,他居然用反手削球連得三分,把對手打得滿臉不信。大家都為他歡呼,他自己也笑得合不攏嘴。

打完球,我們一邊喝茶,一邊聊。老張忽然感嘆說:「其實啊,我不是怕輸,我只是怕摔跤。」
這句話讓我們全場大笑——是的,對我們這群六、七十歲的朋友來說,健康比勝負更重要。能每天來球館,揮揮拍子,笑笑聊天,就是最大的幸福。

回家的路上,我心裡想著:
乒乓球不只是運動,它是我們這個年紀彼此鼓勵、彼此守望的一種連結。球在桌上來回彈跳,就像我們的友誼,輕快、真誠、永不止息。

In our little ping pong circle, everyone has their own “signature style.”
Some strike the ball like lightning, some defend like an unshakable wall, and some make us laugh every time they swing.

Today’s story is about Mr. Zhang.
He believes in playing steady, but sometimes he’s too steady — the ball hits the floor before he even decides whether to move! We jokingly call him the “Ball Observer,” because his favorite move is… standing still and watching.

But don’t underestimate him. Once he decides to make a move, it’s often a surprise attack. Last week, he used three sharp backhand chops in a row and stunned his opponent, winning the point — and the room erupted in laughter and cheers.

After the match, we sat down for tea and chatted. Mr. Zhang said with a grin, “It’s not that I’m afraid to lose — I’m just afraid to fall.”
That made everyone burst out laughing.
At our age, winning isn’t everything. Staying healthy and being able to come to the gym every week — swinging, sweating, and smiling together — that’s real victory.

On my way home, I thought to myself:
Ping pong isn’t just a sport. It’s a bridge of friendship, a rhythm of laughter, and a reminder that life’s rallies — like the ball bouncing back and forth — are best enjoyed together.
