📰 回憶星島——香港報業傳奇與我親身經歷的一段時光

 1964年,我剛開始工作,那時在香港北角的日子至今仍歷歷在目。在那個年代,北角渣華道上的星島大廈是區內的地標建築之一,也是當時香港最具聲望的報章之一——**《星島日報》**的總部所在。

那不只是一座辦公大樓,更是一個充滿活力的媒體中心。每天,大樓裡人來人往:編輯部、行政辦公室和印刷部門分佈在不同樓層。空氣中瀰漫著油墨與剛印好的報紙的氣味——至今我仍然能清楚記得那熟悉的氣味。

🚗 偶遇傳奇報人胡仙女士

那段時間,我常常會在大樓裡偶遇星島報業的老闆——胡仙女士(Ms. Sally Aw / 胡仙)。她是位中年女性,總是戴著眼鏡,舉止優雅,常由司機駕駛著黑色的賓士汽車接送出入。

胡仙女士不僅是企業領袖,更是當時香港少數的女強人之一。她所屬的胡文虎家族在東南亞及香港商界舉足輕重,不僅創辦報業,也創製著名的虎標萬金油,並長年致力於慈善和教育事業。她的家族在香港以熱心公益、提攜文化教育聞名。

雖然我當時只是一名在**雅培藥廠(Abbott Laboratories)**工作的年輕職員,但能近距離看到她進出大樓,總讓我感受到一股堅毅與氣場。在那一瞬間,我親眼見證了媒體、企業與傳承的交匯。

🏢 星島大廈裡的日常風景

星島大廈內,各個樓層各司其職、運轉有序。編輯們埋頭撰稿,排版人員忙著校對版面,而巨大的印刷機器隆隆作響,印出每日的報紙。這裡是一個充滿節奏與生命力的場所

當時大樓內還有其他知名企業,例如**《讀者文摘》(Reader's Digest)的辦公室就設在我們樓下,使整座大廈更像一個小型的媒體王國。1960年代的北角,是一個孕育故事與創意的地方**。


🌍 星島報業的歷史簡介

對一些年輕讀者來說,《星島日報》也許只是一份中文報紙,但它的歷史非常悠久。創辦於1938年,由胡文虎先生(胡仙女士之父)創立,是香港歷史最悠久的報紙之一。

在胡仙女士的領導下,星島報業逐步走向國際,開辦了遍佈北美、歐洲、澳洲的海外版報紙,成為全球華人社區的重要媒體。此外,她也創辦了英文報紙《香港英文虎報》(即後來的The Standard),成為**《南華早報》**以外的重要英文報章。

雖然經歷了報業寒冬與數位轉型的挑戰,星島新聞集團至今仍然屹立不倒。旗下包括:

  • 《頭條日報》(免費派報,針對通勤族群)

集團在多倫多、溫哥華、紐約、舊金山與倫敦等地仍有海外版報刊運營,並積極發展數位平台、手機應用程式和社群媒體。

  16th December, 2025 our group gathered at McConaghy Community Centre for a potluck party filled with warmth, laughter, and good food.
